Securing your account

Your Cloaked account is a safe place to store sensitive information, passwords, and more. As such, it’s critical that you ensure you keep it safe and don’t lose access.

Using a master password

Your master password is the primary key to your account. When choosing a master password for your Cloaked account, it’s important that you follow the guidelines below:

Password guidelines

  • Don’t use a password that you’ve used anywhere else.

  • Use a complex password (with special characters, numbers, etc.) that’s not easy to guess.

  • Don’t share your master password with anyone, including Cloaked employees or support.

Reset Password on Dashboard

  • Click the profile icon in the top right of the dashboard, then click on “Settings”.

  • The Settings page should default to the Account settings panel, in which you can click “Change password”.

  • Enter your current master password as Current Password, and create and confirm your new, secure, Master Password.

Reset Password on Mobile

  • On the home screen, tap the profile icon in the top left, then tap “Settings”.

  • From there, tap “Account Security” and then “Change Password”.

  • Enter your current master password as Current Password, and create and confirm your new, secure, Master Password.

Download your recovery key

Be sure to download your recovery key to help you regain access to your Cloaked account should you ever lose your master password. Be sure to store it in a secure location and never share it with anyone. Cloaked employees or support will never ask you to share this key.

Download on Dashboard

  • Click the profile icon in the top right of the dashboard, then click on “Settings”.

  • On the settings page, click “Recovery kit” in the sidebar.

  • Enter your master password to download your recovery key.

Download on Mobile

  • On the home screen, tap the profile icon in the top left, then tap “Settings”.

  • From there, tap “Account Security” and then “Save recovery key”.

  • Enter your master password to save a copy of your key.
